Amsterdam where an average of 700.000 visitors join the 822.000+ locals in the world’s largest street party!
Many coffeeshops organize parties, do not hesitate! enter in coffeeshops! Street carnival, dancing and singing combined with the open air free market, selling and buying of all kinds of small objects by almost all Amsterdam citizens. Traditionally the reigning monarch portraits are on display and streets are decorated with national Dutch flags and the color of orange, the traditional color of the monarchy and the symbol of Dutch patriotism. Many any people dress up as the King or wear the King’s insignia, while almost all try to have an orange accent in their clothing. This is also the day to eat in the streets exotic food Indonesian, Surinamese, Moroccan or Turkish and drink beer or orange juice.
King’s night Festivities start already in the evening before the King’s Day, called appropriately the King’s Night. Amsterdam clubs organize during the King’s Night special parties and concerts. Celebrations continue to the morning of the King’s Day, and often do not stop for another whole day.
Kingsday Street Market / Free market (Vrije markt) The Dutch, traditionally the nation of sailors and merchants, celebrate their most important national holiday with selling and buying of small unnecessary objects from their households. The prices are mostly symbolic. Starting as early as 7 A.M., the whole city center becomes a street market. Most of people are selling their stuff directly in front of their house. Fun is the most important here – do not expect to buy anything of value. The tradition is to negotiate about the price and it happens, especially when children are trading, that buyer raises the price to show the playful character of this festive business. Market activities peak at 11 A.M. and end around 4 P.M.
Boat Parade / King’s Day on the canals A festive boat parade takes place for several hours in early afternoon, usually along the Prinsengracht canal. People dance on boats and on the shore. Sometimes some boats stop at the shore and will be willing to invite you to their floating party. Check the actual info for the boat parade parkour. Different Amsterdam areas on the King’s Day In different parts of the city the festivities take different course of action:
Kingsday Street Performers Museumplein / pop concerts Museumplein is a traditional place for a big open air pop and disco music festival. A crowd of young people is listening, often camping on the grass of the square. Vondelpark / kids market Vondelpark becomes on the King’s Day the free market for kids. Only children may sell here their toys and books. Children are performing here on different instruments they learn to play at school or at home. It is a custom to admire them all, also those who are just the absolute beginners. Jordaan – crowded market with folk singers music The old area of the Jordaan, traditionally poor district of the city but now trendy Amsterdam area, becomes on the King’s Day most crowded free market area. Many folk singers are performing popular Amsterdam songs directly in the streets. South Amsterdam / the biggest market
Area close to the streets Beethovenstraat, Stadionweg and Apollolaan in South Amsterdam (Amsterdam Zuid) becomes on King’s Day the biggest street market, with most of the shopkeepers opening their special King’s Day stands there. Westermarkt and Reguliersdwaarstraat / Gay parties♥ The most important gay parties are held on the Westermarkt at the Homo Monument and at the Reguliersdwarsstraat, where gay clubs are, in a 10 minutes walking distance from Leidseplein. Dancing there will usually start already in an evening before, during the King’s Night.
Queen’s Day became with the succession on the Dutch Throne by Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands the King’s Day (Dutch: Koningsdag), celebrated on the day of His Majesty Birthday on April 27 each year. If this day falls on Sunday, the King’s Day will be celebrated on the Saturday day before!
For Christmas, schedules are the same, 10 am – 12 pm, some coffeeshops in the Red Light are open 7 am or 8 am (Central Coffeeshop Prins Hendrikkade 89). On January 1, it’s roughly the same times but you will find your happiness even if you are early, enjoy !!!

Amsterdam, the capital of Netherlands, is an old and very romantic European city, which captivates the traveler with its old town in the form of semicircle with five canals, great architecture, inspiring choice of art galleries and museums and lovely sites for walking, shopping and relaxation.
Over the Amstel River that runs across the city could be counted approximately four hundred bridges and ninety islands.
With its unique combination of old-world charm and cosmopolitan culture, friendly atmosphere and tolerant attitude of the locals, Amsterdam is one of the most popular European cities for international visitors.
The idyllic combination of historical sites, cultural venues and great entertainment spots, turn Amsterdam into a lively city and contemporary scene, and thus into a tempting tourist destination.
Perfect to be explored on foot, Amsterdam has a superb choice of landmarks. Besides the accommodation options in the old town with its small streets and canals, serviced rental apartments are to be found in the city center near the Oude Kerk, the windmills the De Otter and the Molen van Sloten, the Van Gogh Museum and the Diamond Museum. Nice Amsterdam hotels are also set near the Artis Zoo with the Aquarium and the Planetarium, and next to the Zandvoort beach area. The holiday apartments in Amsterdam are generally located in the old town and the areas of Damark and Rokin, where the Amstel River flows.
These vacation accommodation spots are of different types and capacity to welcome one to several guests. Some of the equipped rental units are more suitable for business travellers as they are set near the airport and the business district, while others are more central and oriented towards the families with kids and other leisure-time holiday-makers. Fully equipped to provide maximum comfort and relaxation, the Amsterdam apartments for rent have reasonable prices as well.
Al party starts at midnight, dress warmly, especially good shoes, if you want to walk that night. Beware, there are a lot of people, especially on Dam Square, rather prefer the Jordaan neighborhood and such as De Pijp for the wonderful and unforgettable experience ride.

Schiphol is the main airport of the Netherlands and one of the major European airports, located 17.5 km south west of Amsterdam, in the municipality of Haarlemmermeer.
Eastern Haarlemmermeer in 1740
In the early twentieth century, Schiphol was a military airbase built in September 1916. It was a simple airfield consisted of a few huts, using a pre-track. The civilian airport is 17 May 1920. When the first civilian aircraft began using in December 1920, he was sometimes called the “Marsh Schiphol.” Hotels in Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Amsterdam
Schiphol is the name of an old fortification called “Fort Schiphol” which was part of the defense line of Amsterdam, a belt of fortifications around the city.
Before 1852, the Haarlemmermeer polder along the airport did not exist and there was a large lake, known for its sudden and violent storms. An arm of the lake, which was near the town of Amstelveen, called the Schipshol, literally “schip hol”, “the hole, the refuge boat.”
The airport is also a major railway station served by Thalys line.
A shopping center Schiphol Plaza is located upstream of the Customs and serves as the Dutch and the passengers. It includes a supermarket, Food Village, open until midnight seven days a week.

Coffeeshop Central / Prins Hendrikkade 89 ( A on the map ) is closest Airport Schiphol ( 15 mn by train ).
Open 7am until 8pm daily. Most shops open closer to 10am so this is unusual and it’s no doubt partly due to the layover phenomenon and the fact that it’s the closest place to the train station as well. Many of these layover flights land in Amsterdam around 6am or 7am, so this place is open to meet your early morning weed-smoking needs.

Amsterdam Centraal is the central railway station of Amsterdam. It is also one of the main railway hubs of the Netherlands and is used by 250,000 passengers a day, excluding transferring passengers. It is the starting point of Amsterdam Metro lines 51, 53 and 54.
Direct trains to Amsterdam Centraal Station run every 10 to 15 minutes between about 6 and 12:30 a.m. (every hour during other times). The trip takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Buy tickets either at the ticket desk on the arrivals level or at the yellow machines (with euro coins or with a debit card that uses a “PIN” code). Trains leave from platforms 1, 2 or 3, one floor below.
The OV-chipcard is an electronic form of payment for travel on all public transport vehicles, which since June 1, 2010 has been introduced as an exclusive ticket form in Amsterdam. A credit card size OV-chpicard carries a memory chip, which registers your credit and deducts the cost of each journey from it.
Chip-in and chip-out
Entering the tram, train or a bus you have to flash your card in front of the special sensor placed inside the vehicle at the door (so called chipping-in), leaving you flash it again (chipping-out) and the cost of your journey is deducted automatically from your card.
If you forget to chip-out the card exiting the vehicle, the system will assume that you continued your journey and will charge you the maximum charge of € 4,00 The OV-chipcards system
Amsterdam residents use personal OV-chipcards. For a visitor an anonymous OV-chipcard, which can be purchased in many supermarkets, press shops and GVB offices, is a better choice. It costs € 7,50 and it is valid for 5 years, but it carries no credit. To travel you have to download the credit at special machines located at the stations and at the entry of many supermarkets. Tourist best choice
If you are in Amsterdam only for a visit, more simple and more economical are 24-, 48-, 72-, 96-, 120-, 144- and 168- hour OV-chipcards, which allow for unlimited travel on all trams, buses, metros and night buses for the duration of the card.
One very economical option for visitors on a day trip to Amsterdam is the All Amsterdam Transport Pass. This works as a 24-hour pass for all GVB transport such as trams, buses and the metro as well as being a one day ticket for the city’s popular canal bus and granting discounts to popular attractions and restaurants.
You may buy All-in One Travel Tickets upon your arrival on Schiphol Airport.

‘De Walletjes’ is desirable by everyone who visits Amsterdam. It’s not only for the great variation of girls who are working here but also for the nice and cozy area with his restaurants, bars, sexshops, sexshow / clubs and the coffeeshops.
It’s a safe place to be. Just use your common sense and walk here or visit one of the bars, restaurants, clubs or girls! At ‘The Main Area’ (de Walletjes) are hundreds of windows, it’s the main sex-attraction of the city centre these days
Hundreds of people are walking and peeking here every day, evening or night throughout this area. It’s a nice, safe & great place to walk around.
Don´t take pictures of the girls in the windows, they really don´t like that! Just walk around, hop into the sexshops, see a show in a sextheatre, visit a peeshow, proof your luck in a gamblinghall, have a drink at one of the bars or use one of the attractions in the windows.
The other RLD-area in the city-centre is located around the Spuistraat/Singel, it’s at the other side of the shoppingstreet ‘Nieuwendijk’.
It’s called Singel-district’ with the Oude Nieuwstraat, Spuistraat, Singel, Korte Korsjespoortsteeg, Korsjespoortsteeg, Bergstraat, Teerketelsteeg & Korte Kolksteeg
There are about 55 windows filled with girls, women & several transsexuals. It’s not a real tourists-area but more for locals who are looking for sexual entertainment. But you’re welcome to take a look or entertain yourself here Bars, coffeeshops, sexmovie-theaters, restaurants and dailys are here plenty to find.
The third Red Light District is located at another part of Amsterdam

At this street are plenty of restaurants, bars, coffeeshops, hotels, souvenirshops and more…
A nice diner at a terrace is possible when the temperature is right! This street is part of the main route around the centre of Amsterdam and a lot of cars, busses a.s.o. drive through here The Dominicus church, build bij Abraham Cuypers, is here too The app. 20 windows are located close upon eachother around the Korte Kolksteeg and the Korte Lijnbaanssteeg
You can find them in the basements and stacked upon each other, as you see at the picture on the left. In this street girls (and transsexuals) of all ages, ethnicity and sizes. It’s not been resolved yet what’s going to happen with these windows due the ‘1012-regulation’ but the seems to stay open. At this street is a special Gay-shop with all kind of souvenirs and knickknacks
